MISS SAIGON 25th ANNIVERSARY BROCHURE + SIGNED PROGRAMME GIVEAWAY
So I went to the Miss Saigon gala on the 22nd and managed to get a couple of extra copies of the special souvenir brochure with an OLC insert they were giving away and I decided to, well, do a giveaway :3 In addition to the special edition of the brochure I’m also giving away a programme signed by members of the current cast *u*
"Jean Valjean is just a role I was dead set against doing. I turned it down twice before Cameron Mackintosh himself said "I’ve come for my pound of flesh. I want you to play Jean Valjean." I thought "What am I going to do with it?" At this stage, I didn’t even think I could sing it. Colm Wilkinson was just in the room singing it. He was preparing his audition for the film. I thought, "That’s what Jean Valjean looks like!" Mackintosh had more faith in me than I had in myself. I said, "I’ll make you a deal. After we finish this Phantom 25th Anniversary show, let me come sing it for you. If you still like it, I’ll do it…" - Ramin Karimloo
Pics of Ramin Karimloo in Miss Saigon (since Miss Saigon recently celebrated their 25th anniversary)
I really want to see Ramin perform as Chris in Miss Saigon!! I heard his recordings, and he sounds absolutely perfect! I was personally wishing that he would show up in the 25th anniversary gala of Miss Saigon.. :p
My attempt at making a stereo track of Ramin’s and Kwang-ho’s Til I Hear You Sing…. I didn’t realize that Kwang-ho’s TIHYS was wayyy faster than Ramin’s until I started editing. So, I made the track by cutting Ramin’s parts here and there, which broke my heart T.T I tried my best but some parts are still off, and the volumes aren’t balanced… meh :p
This is a Korean version of ‘Til I Hear You Sing’ from Love Never Dies. It is sung by a popular Korean musical actor, Kwang-ho Hong, who is my favorite Korean actor :) FYI he is currently performing as ‘Thuy’ in the West End production of Miss Saigon, which I think is the revival version. The intro is super duper long for some reason, so you can start around 1:30 if you just want to hear him sing.
What do you Raminians think about this version? I kinda had mixed feelings about the intro, and I also thought that this voice was hmm… thicker should I say? like more operatic than Ramin’s.. I’m just curious about what you think of this version.
